Job Description

*This position is open to candidates based in either Mumbai or Chennai office . Please indicate your preferred location in your application. Job Responsibilities: Maintain close, day-to-day communication with International Japanese pharmaceutical company and India-based manufacturers for pharmaceutical products (including Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and Contract Manufacturing Organizations for pharmaceutical intermediates. Participation in business meetings with Japanese pharmaceutical companies, and plant/laboratory audits to India-based Manufacturers of Pharmaceutical Ingredients/Intermediates. This includes providing English translations of technical terms used to facilitate smooth communication during the engagements. Contribute to the achievement of sales and gross trading profit targets for Chennai Office. Actively work to increase profitability through strategic business development and operational support. Leverage your skills, experience, and customer relationships to identify and develop new business opportunities within the pharmaceutical sector, under the supervision of the Business Head. Foster transparent and open communication to support teamwork, particularly with the Business Head. Share any specialized skills, experience, or customer networks that can enhance the Life Science Department’s pharmaceutical business. Collect and provide market information, including financial, product, and customer-related information of India-based manufacturers, whether or not directly related to business of Chennai Office/Life Science Dept. Share competitor insights and relevant data with the Deputy General Manager to support strategic planning and profit growth. Requirements: Postgraduate in Pharmacy or Chemical Science (MSc Chemistry) At least 12 to 14 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or trading company, with a strong background in handling pharmaceutical intermediates, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), contract manufacturing or pharmaceutical trading operations. Strong knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biology, medicine, manufacturing/engineering processes, and analytical laboratory practices related to chemical synthesis. Fluent in English, with the ability to understand and communicate technical terminology relevant to the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Experience in engaging with international stakeholders, particularly Japanese counterparts, in a professional business context. Proven ability to conduct negotiations in trading business. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis, reporting, and presentations. Confident, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively to a team.
