About Position:

This role combines expertise in database administration and Linux system management. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on experience with databases like Oracle, MSSQL, Teradata, or Netezza, along with strong SQL skills and Linux fundamentals. You’ll be responsible for performance tuning, backups, user access management, and working in a dynamic 24x7 shift environment.

What You'll Do:

• Manage and maintain databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, Teradata, or Netezza, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Perform routine database maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and apply patches or upgrades as needed.
• Create and manage database users, assigning access at object, database, and group levels.
• Monitor and resolve performance issues, including single-query optimization and overall system degradation.
• Write and re-write SQL queries for performance and accuracy.
• Handle full, differential, and incremental backups, and perform database restores when required.
• Utilize Linux OS skills for database administration tasks and system-level troubleshooting.
• Work with connectivity protocols like ODBC, JDBC, and OLE-DB.
• Apply basic knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes in database environments.
• Collaborate in a 24x7 shift setup, including weekends, ensuring high availability and support.
• Leverage cloud skills (Azure/AWS) if certified, to enhance infrastructure and deployment.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, Teradata, or Netezza.
• Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and rewriting for performance.
• Proficiency in database maintenance, troubleshooting, and user access management at various levels.
• Solid understanding of backup strategies—full, differential, and incremental—and restore procedures.
• Working knowledge of Linux OS fundamentals essential for database administration.
• Familiarity with connectivity protocols like ODBC, JDBC, and OLE-DB.
• Basic experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Practitioner-level certification in Azure and/or AWS is a plus.
• Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to work in a 24x7 shift environment, including weekends.
