Job Description

Critical Skills to Possess:

6–8 years of hands-on experience with
Oracle RDBMS
and
Microsoft SQL Server
in high-volume production environments.
Strong proficiency in
Oracle RAC, RMAN, ASM
, and
PL/SQL
scripting.
Deep experience in
SQL Server internals
,
SSMS
,
T-SQL
, backup/restore strategies, and maintenance plans.
Experience with monitoring tools like
OEM
,
SQL Sentry
,
SolarWinds DPA
, or
Nagios/Zabbix
.
Comfortable working in
Linux/Unix
as well as
Windows Server
environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
and/or
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
.
Familiarity with
cloud database platforms
(e.g., AWS RDS for Oracle/SQL, Azure SQL Database).
Experience with
DevOps
,
CI/CD pipelines
, and
Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
for DB deployment.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across globally distributed teams and support 24x7 production environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience

Roles and Responsibilities

Administer and optimize
Oracle 12c/19c
and
SQL Server 2016/2019/2022
instances in production, staging, and DR environments.
Design and implement
backup/recovery
,
high availability
, and
disaster recovery
solutions (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups).
Perform
query tuning
,
index optimization
, and
performance troubleshooting
using tools such as
AWR/ASH
,
Oracle Enterprise Manager
,
SQL Server Profiler
, and
Database Tuning Advisor
.
Automate routine maintenance tasks and alerts using
T-SQL
,
PL/SQL
,
PowerShell
, or
Shell scripting
.
Coordinate with development teams for schema changes, deployments, and application performance troubleshooting.
Apply security patches, perform DB hardening, and maintain compliance with industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS, SOX).
Maintain operational documentation including SOPs, runbooks, and environment topology.
Participate in incident response, problem management, and change reviews as per
ITIL
guidelines.
