Your Role And Responsibilities Required Professional and Technical Expertise: As a DB2 DBA, you will be focused on managing and optimizing IBM DB2 databases, including tasks like installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery, security, and collaboration with application development teams. Additionally, you’ll provide technical consulting in defining, designing, and creating DB2 database environments, reviewing DB2 project requests and estimates, and administering DB2 database organisations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation. Maintain DB2 dictionaries and objects using SQL, Perl, shell scripts, and batch processes. To Categorise The Set Of Activities Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 databases, including LUW (Linux/Unix/Windows) versions. Performance Tuning and Optimisation: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies using tools like db2top Backup/Recovery, Replication and Migration: Implement and manage robust backup and recovery procedures, including RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) considerations, while supporting data replication and migration between different DB2 environments SQL Development and Optimisation: Collaborate with developers to optimise SQL queries, create stored procedures, and ensure data integrity. High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Participate in HA and DR planning and testing, from inception to design and implementation, to ensure business continuity and data availability. Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor database health, identify and resolve performance issues, and troubleshoot connectivity problems Security: Implement and manage database security measures, including user access control, auditing, and data encryption. Data Replication and Migration: Migration between different engines, or between different versions of DB2, as well as data restoration, maintenance and migration. Documentation and Procedures: Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps with application development teams, system admins, and others. Preferred Education Master's Degree Required Technical And Professional Expertise Required Skills and Experience: DB2 Expertise: Extensive experience with DB2 LUW and/or z/OS DB administration SQL: Strong proficiency in SQL and stored procedures Operating Systems: Knowledge of Linux/Unix/Windows and similar Database Design: Understanding of database design principles and best practices Scripting: Experience with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation. Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with monitoring tools like db2top, IBM Data Server Manager Backup and Recovery Tools: Experience with DB2 backup and recovery utilities Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting database issues.
