About the Organization Girl Rising uses the power of storytelling to change the way the world values girls and their education. Working closely with local educational partners, we deliver culturally adapted programming to millions of adolescent girls and boys in five countries, building voice, confidence and agency, and providing training to teachers. We work with thousands of educators, parents and community members to address powerful social norms that hold girls back. Rooted in decades of research demonstrating that educating girls is one of the most effective ways to address our world’s most pressing issues including health, poverty, peace and stability, and climate change, Girl Rising creates original media and campaigns that activate a global community in support of girls’ education. Girl Rising works to address this global challenge with a program model based on three pillars. We: CREATE films, media content and educational resources that tell the stories of girls, the realities they face and the futures they desire. COLLABORATE with organizations around the world to support locally-led change that accelerates and strengthens quality education and greater opportunity for girls. ACTIVATE change by inspiring individuals, from parents to presidents, to support action for girls’ education and girls’ rights. We work to change mindsets, norms and policy. Project Details Girl Rising’s project in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh will focus on building self-confidence, voice and aspiration of 2000 adolescents with the goal of achieving long-term outcomes like reduced early pregnancies/marriages, preventing school dropouts, and increasing access to higher education and career development. Project Implementation Design The project is designed to empower adolescents and encourage stakeholders like parents, teachers and community members to create a favorable environment for adolescents to thrive. It will be implemented in partnership with a credible community-based organization, Samarpit, who not only has a good understanding of the state, but has also worked closely with communities for the last few decades. A holistic curriculum, developed based on Girl Rising’s decade of experience, will be delivered in government schools with the support of teachers and school administration. This curriculum will cover critical themes, including digital literacy, financial literacy, social-emotional learning, storytelling, gender sensitization and climate action. In addition to this, sessions will be conducted with parents of these adolescents to build their awareness on similar topics so that adolescents also have access to a supportive environment at home. Project Evaluation Design To measure the curriculum and the project’s effectiveness and impact, Girl Rising will also conduct pre- and post-assessments, building evidence of behavioural and attitudinal changes among adolescents, parents, and teachers. Baseline: Quantitative assessments will be conducted with 300-350 adolescent girls and boys between grades 8 - 11 and 40 male and female teachers. Endline: Quantitative assessments will be conducted with the same group of adolescents and teachers, along with qualitative assessments (in-depth interviews and focus group discussions) involving parents, teachers, and adolescents. Scope of Work Key Responsibilities The Data Collector will conduct the Baseline assessments with adolescent girls and boys in-person in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, in collaboration with the Samarpit and Girl Rising Teams between July 1 - 13, 2025. Participate in a virtual Data Collector Training conducted by Girl Rising to understand survey administration and data coding, entry, and reporting requirements. Review all relevant program documents and data collection tools prior to the training Create master sheets for all survey participants (students and teachers) with unique coding (This will be discussed during the training) Each Data Collector will be required to conduct in-person quantitative assessments (surveys) with ~120 adolescents Clean and enter the student survey data, and organize the information in the coded data entry Excel files shared by Girl Rising. Submit the completed Excel files with coded data entry by the agreed-upon deadline. Submit the hard copies of the filled student survey forms in Hindi to the Girl Rising team. The baseline survey with teachers will be conducted by Girl Rising staff at the end of the teacher training. Data collectors will receive the completed hard copies of the survey forms, after which they will enter the data into the coded data entry files provided by Girl Rising. Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and data protection Ensure availability over emails and virtual calls for clarifying questions about the data at the time of data analysis, post July 2025. Timeline Overview Onboard the Data Collectors and Sign Work Orders By Jun 30, 2025 Training of Data Collectors Jul 2, 2025- Jul 3, 2025 Data Collection in Bilaspur Jul 7, 2025 to Jul 12, 2025 Final Documents to be shared with Girl Rising in English and Hindi Jul 25, 2025 Logistics and Support All Travel and Local conveyance expenses for the duration of fieldwork will be reimbursed against actual expenses, submitted in the form of bills and receipts Any printed material required will be provided Required Qualifications Experience in quantitative data collection is mandatory Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills Experience working in similar contexts Willingness to travel within Bilaspur district with the Girl Rising and Samarpit teams Proficiency in written and spoken English and Hindi Any familiarity with gender, education and life skills related projects is valued Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively and build trust with stakeholders is valued Availability for both quantitative and qualitative data collection in November, during the endline assessment phase of this project, will be considered an added advantage.
