Data Backup Administrator (Veeam Specialist)

Job Summary

The Data Backup Administrator will be solely responsible for managing, monitoring, and validating all aspects of our data protection strategy, with a primary focus on the Veeam platform. This role involves remotely managing client backup infrastructure, ensuring scheduled backups succeed, and leading all disaster recovery (DR) testing and real-world restore operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Veeam Platform Expertise: Design, implement, configure, and maintain the Veeam Backup & Replication environment for multiple clients and diverse workloads (Virtual Machines, physical servers, and cloud instances).
• Backup Operations: Schedule and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly backup jobs, ensuring all defined Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and retention policies are consistently met.
• Troubleshooting & Remediation: Proactively monitor backup health (using Veeam ONE or similar tools), investigate, and promptly resolve all backup failures and performance issues.
• Disaster Recovery (DR) & Testing:
• Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive Disaster Recovery (DR) plans and runbooks.
• Perform regular, real-world backup restore tests (SureBackup/SureReplica) and full DR failover drills to validate the recoverability and meet Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs).
• Remote Management: Effectively manage and troubleshoot the remote backup infrastructure and storage repositories across client sites.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date documentation on all backup policies, configuration changes, and recovery procedures for auditing and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Backup Administrator or Data Protection Specialist.
• Core Technical Skills (Mandatory):
• Expert proficiency with Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam ONE.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V).
• Experience with different storage targets (SAN, NAS, Deduplication Appliances).
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to handle high-pressure recovery situations.
• Certification (Preferred): Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
