Job Description

Customs & Global Trade Team Leader

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Team Management

  • Effective in resource management skills, ability to synthesize disparate information, and build consensus, has sound judgment and decision-making
  • Good interpersonal, leadership, and team player skills
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and communication skills
  • Quality Orientation and ability to take initiative and demonstrate ownership of problem resolution
  • Should possess strong customer focus and quality awareness, attention to detail and be motivated to constantly drive process improvements

2. Customs Documentation Review

Verify import/export documents for accuracy and regulatory compliance.

3. HS Code Classification

Support correct classification of pharmaceutical goods using Harmonized System codes.

4. Regulatory Compliance Monitoring

Ensure trade activities comply with CDSCO, FDA, EMA, and other global regulations.

5. Trade Data Analysis

Analyse customs and trade data to identify trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.

6. Customs Filing Support

Assist in preparing and submitting digital customs declarations and filings.

7. Controlled Substance Handling

Ensure proper documentation and permits for regulated pharmaceutical substances.

8. Stakeholder Coordination

Collaborate remotely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams.

9. Audit & Inspection Readiness

Maintain digital records and support virtual audits by customs and regulatory authorities.

10. Process Improvement

Recommend enhancements to streamline customs workflows and reduce delays.

11. Global Trade Compliance Reporting

Generate reports on trade compliance metrics, duty payments, and regulatory updates.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you require:

  • Bachelors degree in supply chain, International Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Customs or Global Trade, preferably in the pharmaceutical or regulated industry
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, Customs software e.g. SAP, GTS, Amber Road etc
  • Familiarity with global trade regulations and controlled substance handling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills, problem solving and a strong team orientation.
  • Ability to successfully multi-task and manage several diverse responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Flexible to work in night shift.
  • Able to be flexible, including willingness to work overtime as needed and/or an occasional Saturday if business needs dictate.
