Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented and motivated Commis 1 Chef – Continental Cuisine to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in continental cooking techniques and be capable of preparing and presenting high-quality Western-style dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of continental dishes including soups, pastas, grilled meats, sauces, salads, and plated appetizers/main courses.
  • Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure mise en place is prepared and organized before each service.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety in the kitchen at all times.
  • Store and label all food items correctly to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Support the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the assigned section of the kitchen.
  • Handle kitchen equipment responsibly and report any maintenance issues.
  • Assist in receiving and storing kitchen supplies and ingredients.
  • Comply with HACCP and food safety procedures consistently.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in continental cuisine.
  • Basic understanding of Western/European culinary techniques and ingredients.
  • Culinary diploma or relevant vocational training is preferred.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Passion for food, presentation, and learning new skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of sauces, grill, sauté, or cold kitchen sections.
  • Experience working in hotels or fine-dining establishments.
  • Familiarity with kitchen hygiene standards and safety protocols.
