Job Summary:

The Consultant Paediatrician & Neonatologist will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents, with a specialized focus on the management of neonates, including premature and critically ill newborns. The role encompasses outpatient and inpatient care, NICU management, emergency paediatric services, preventive health programs, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety in a multispeciality hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:1. Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of medical conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Oversee neonatal intensive care (NICU) and manage critically ill newborns with advanced life support measures.
  • Conduct routine neonatal assessments for all deliveries, including high-risk cases.
  • Attend to emergency paediatric and neonatal cases promptly and effectively.
  • Perform neonatal resuscitation, ventilator management, and advanced neonatal procedures as required.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up and continuity of care for discharged neonates and paediatric patients.
  • Collaborate with Obstetrics, Anaesthesiology, and other departments for perinatal and multidisciplinary care.

2. Outpatient and Inpatient Care

  • Conduct daily outpatient clinics for paediatric consultations, immunizations, and growth monitoring.
  • Admit and manage paediatric and neonatal patients requiring inpatient or intensive care.
  • Supervise medical officers and nurses in patient management and care protocols.
  • Ensure timely documentation of patient notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.

3. Preventive and Developmental Care

  • Promote preventive paediatric healthcare including vaccination programs and nutritional guidance.
  • Conduct developmental screening and early intervention programs.
  • Provide counselling to parents on child health, growth, and behavioural issues.

4. Administrative & Academic Duties

  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, audits, and hospital quality improvement programs.
  • Ensure adherence to NABH standards, hospital policies, and infection control guidelines.
  • Contribute to continuous medical education (CME), training sessions, and clinical teaching for residents and nurses.
  • Assist in developing paediatric and NICU protocols, clinical pathways, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

5. Emergency & On-Call Duties

  • Provide on-call cover for paediatric and neonatal emergencies, both in-house and in the delivery suite.
  • Support the Emergency Department and ICU in stabilizing paediatric cases requiring higher-level care.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: MBBS with MD / DNB in Paediatrics or equivalent qualification. Fellowship in Neonatology (preferred).
  • Registration: Valid registration with Medical Council of India / State Medical Council.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of post-MD experience in Paediatrics & Neonatology, preferably in a multispeciality hospital or tertiary care centre.
  • Skills:
  • Expertise in neonatal resuscitation and intensive care management.
  • Competence in paediatric emergency management and developmental assessment.
  • Strong diagnostic and procedural skills.

  • Excellent clinical judgement and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Strong communication and counselling skills with patients and families.
  • Leadership ability to manage NICU and paediatric team members.
  • Empathetic, ethical, and child-friendly approach to patient care.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring patient safety standards.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time with rotational on-call and emergency duties, including weekends and public holidays as per hospital roster.
