Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • The BASIS Engneer will be responsible for providing day-to-day SAP BASIS support, monitoring system health, assisting in patching and maintenance activities, and managing routine operations
  • The role supports senior engineers in ensuring high system availability, executing maintenance tasks, and managing incidents and service requests through ServiceNow

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support Sr. Engineer in SAP system patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Perform system monitoring and manage day-to-day BAU (Business As Usual) BASIS tickets.
  • Proactively tuning performance, capacity planning, managing bottlenecks.
  • Document tasks, updates, and resolutions accurately in the ticketing system (ServiceNow).
  • Execute and manage SAP transport activities across environments.
  • Manage SAP background jobs and ensure smooth batch processing operations.
  • Perform application patching, add-on, and support pack upgrades as per schedule.
  • Execute regular system refresh, backup, and restore activities.
  • Manage printer driver configuration and spool administration.
  • Conduct ABAP dump and system log analysis for proactive issue identification.
  • Handle RFC configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform SNC configurations and manage security certificates (add/renew/remove).
  • Support troubleshooting of SAP system and connectivity issues.
  • Manage and execute ad-hoc BASIS operational requests.
  • Provide on-call support during weekends and be available for 24x7 rotational shifts.
  • Handle ServiceNow ticket management, ensuring timely response and resolution.


Key Relationships:

  • Internal: BASIS Sr. Engineers, Application Support, Infrastructure & Network Teams, Database Administrators, Security Teams.
  • External: SAP vendors, third-party application support, managed service partners.

Person Specification

Experience:

  • Strong SAP BASIS administration experience in support and maintenance roles.
  • Hands-on experience in SAP ECC/S4HANA and related SAP landscapes.
  • Experience with patching, transport management, and background job scheduling.
  • Exposure to working in 24x7 support environments and shift operations.

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of SAP BASIS fundamentals and system architecture.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow or other ITSM tools for ticket management.
  • Knowledge of system monitoring, RFC/SNC configuration, and transport management.
  • Familiarity with certificate management and troubleshooting of SAP issues.
  • Understanding of backup/restore and system refresh processes.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
