Summary:
The Community Arts Program Manager provides project management, administrative, and creative support to the Community Arts Programs team and the Director of Community Programs. The Manager will foster positive and consistent communication between CSMA staff, faculty, and schools, and help maintain the Community Arts Program’s high standards for TK-8 grade students’ arts-based learning experiences and community initiatives. The Community Arts Programs include: In-School Programs (Art4Schools, Music4Schools, After School), Artistic Intelligence, Mohr Gallery Community Artist Exhibitions and Events, and Community Events.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare Music4School (M4S) and Art4School (A4S) Faculty Contracts and Addendum Schedules.
- Ensure smooth and effective operations for In-School art shows and performances.
- Supervise the Program Coordinators and oversee the management of In-School Programs schedules and ensure effective record-keeping.
- Oversee the smooth operations of the Monthly Faculty meetings and ensure that the technology, amenities, and materials are prepared.
- Onboard the Faculty, including an introduction to school administration and classroom support.
- Collaborate with program coordinators to travel to and from school sites to make special deliveries, provide classroom tech support, and other related communications.
- Collaborate with the Director of Community Programs to ensure In-School Program contractual agreements are met.
- Track make-ups and collaborate with Program Coordinators to assign and schedule substitute teachers for absences.
- Monthly tracking of department expenditures and ensuring the filing of receipts for the finance department.
- Support CSMA staff with the maintenance of Faculty’s physical and online resources.
- Coordinate and support the program evaluation process for school stakeholders and faculty.
- Support Program Coordinators with the Artistic Intelligence Program student workers.
- Manage department volunteers and interns.
- Support the Director of Community Programs with Mohr Gallery Artist Agreements, exhibition coordination, and exhibition public events.
- Work in partnership with various departments within CSMA to maintain the program’s success, including HR, marketing, and the Community Arts Programs’ team.
- Additional special projects as determined by the Director of Community Programs.
Skills & Qualifications
Competencies
- Equity-minded understanding of elementary arts education.
- Understanding of cross-cultural historical and contemporary art.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills with careful attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills, in particular with MS Office (Excel, Word) and Google Apps & Drive; ability to mail merge large volume mailings.
- Ability to organize and synthesize data.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Customer service oriented; outgoing personality that thrives on interaction with teachers, school administrators, parents, and co-workers.
- Ability to communicate in a positive and clear way with faculty, school administrators, and teachers, through email, phone, and in person.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English, a plus.
- Early Childhood experience is a plus.
- Music background, a plus.
- Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from school sites on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work a schedule that coincides with typical school hours: 8 am-4 pm, Monday-Friday.
Education
- BA in Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Music, Theater, Art, or Art Education (or equivalent experience)
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in non-profit arts administration coordination and or management, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of supervising artistic projects and teams experience is preferred
- Art, K-8 elementary, or Art Education background.
- A music background is highly preferred.
Physical Demands
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is required to travel to all schools served by in-school program for meetings and other required tasks
