Job Description

Job Title: Commis Chef (Indian & Continental Cuisine)

Department: Kitchen / Food Production

Summary:

The Commis Chef will assist the kitchen team in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, specifically in Indian and Continental cuisines. The role involves maintaining hygiene standards, following recipes and instructions, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations in accordance with hotel standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of Indian and Continental dishes under the supervision of senior chefs.
  • Follow standardized recipes, portion control, and plating guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and workstation at all times.
  • Support the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations.
  • Ensure all ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and rotated following FIFO (First In, First Out) system.
  • Assist in mise en place preparation before service hours.
  • Check food quality, taste, texture, and temperature before serving.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards as per hotel policy and statutory norms.
  • Assist in minimizing food wastage and maintaining cost control.
  • Cooperate with team members to ensure timely food service for guests and staff.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as scheduled by the Executive Chef.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of Indian and Continental cooking methods, ingredients, and presentation styles.
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure during busy hours.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and time management skills.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Diploma / Certificate in Culinary Arts / Hotel Management.
  • 1–2 years of experience as Commis Chef or Trainee in a reputed hotel or restaurant (Indian & Continental kitchen preferred).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
