COBOL Developer - MicroFocus Enterprise Server

We are seeking a skilled COBOL Developer with hands-on experience in MicroFocusEnterprise Server to join our long term care insurance systems team. The successful candidatewill be responsible for supporting, debugging, and modifying COBOL code that powers ourthird-party administrative platform. This role will be heavily involved in systemmodifications to support data conversions and the onboarding of closed block long term careinsurance clients.Experience with Eclipse IDE for mainframe development and strong debugging, compilation,and integration testing skills are essential. Insurance industry knowledge—particularly in LongTerm Care insurance claims—is highly desirable. Familiarity with Java is a plus but notrequired.Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and debug COBOL programs running on MicroFocus EnterpriseServer. Use Eclipse IDE for coding, compiling, and version management of mainframeprograms. Perform advanced debugging and integration testing to ensure code quality and systemreliability. Support system modifications required during client closed block data conversions. Collaborate with business analysts, conversion teams, and QA to identify and resolveissues. Document technical specifications, test results, and system changes. Participate in production support, including troubleshooting and issue resolution forexisting systems. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration betweenCOBOL modules and other technologies.

Requirements

Qualifications Required:

• 10+ years of experience in COBOL development
• Strong hands-on experience with MicroFocus Enterprise Server
• Proficiency using Eclipse IDE for mainframe development and code compilation
• Advanced debugging and problem-solving skills
• Experience with integration testing and validating system changes
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, preferably Long Term Care claims
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate across technical and business

• Ability to work independently as well as within a collaborative team environment
  

 Preferred (Nice-to-Have):

• Exposure to Java development or the ability to collaborate with Java teams
• Familiarity with data conversions and system migrations in insurance platforms
• Understanding of batch cycles and scheduling tools
