CNC Machine Operator

Key Responsibilities 1. Machine Setup & Operation Operate CNC machines with understanding/experience of Milling, EDM, Wire Cut, Router, and Laser Cutting machine operations as per job requirements. Prepare fixtures, tooling, and workpiece setups for moulds and aviation parts. Select and install appropriate cutting tools, ensuring correct offsets and parameters for various materials (tool steel, aluminium alloys, composites, engineering plastics). Perform machine warm-up, tool presetting, and program loading. 2. Process Management Execute machining operations as per approved drawings and process sheets. Optimise machining parameters for efficiency while maintaining process stability. Coordinate with programming and tooling teams for job readiness. Maintain records of job progress, tooling usage, and downtime. 3. Machine Care & Maintenance Carry out daily and periodic preventive maintenance checks on machines. Monitor tool wear and replace or adjust tools to maintain dimensional accuracy. Report breakdowns or abnormalities to maintenance promptly. 4. Coordination & Workflow Work closely with the production planner to meet delivery timelines. Liaise with Quality team for first-off and final inspections. Coordinate with the Compliance team to ensure process documentation is updated and followed. Skills & Competencies Technical Skills: CNC programming and editing (Fanuc, Siemens, or equivalent). Ability to read complex 2D/3D mould and aviation component drawings with GD&T. Strong knowledge of machining for mould cavities, cores, and inserts. Experience with machining aluminium and composite aviation-grade components. Process Skills: Job changeover planning for minimum downtime. Optimising cutting parameters for different materials and finishes. Awareness of aviation process flow and traceability requirements (even though QA is separate). Behavioural Skills: Ownership mindset for machine and process performance. Strong communication for cross-department collaboration. Adaptability to handle varied jobs (moulds and production parts). Experience & Qualifications ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Tool & Die, or Production Engineering. 4–6 years’ experience in CNC machining, with exposure to mould making and/or aviation components. Hands-on experience with VMC, EDM, Wire Cut, and other relevant machines.
