Category Manager / Purchase Manager

Kapra Daily Supermarket is seeking an experienced Category Manager / Purchase Manager to oversee all product categories including FMCG, groceries, perishables, household, and non-food items. The role requires hands-on supermarket experience, with expertise in purchase planning, vendor management, category growth, and inventory control to maximize profitability and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage end-to-end purchasing and category management across all supermarket product lines.

Develop category strategies, pricing, and promotions to drive sales and profitability.

Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for quality, pricing, and credit terms.

Maintain accurate demand forecasting and stock levels to minimize wastage and stock-outs.

Monitor sales data, competitor pricing, and customer preferences to make informed decisions.

Coordinate with store operations and merchandising teams for display and promotions.

Prepare category performance reports (sales, margins, stock turnover) for management review.

Ensure timely replenishment of fast-moving goods and seasonal products.

Establish strong vendor relationships to secure reliable supply chains.

Ensure compliance with company standards, hygiene, and statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Mandatory: Minimum 3–7 years of supermarket/retail experience in category management or purchase.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Retail Management (preferred).

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Proficiency in inventory control, demand forecasting, and retail software (ERP/POS).

Analytical mindset with strong decision-making ability.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
