About the Role:


We are looking for an experienced and driven Category Lead to spearhead our Branded Staples category function. You will own the core AAP (Assortment, Availability, Pricing) metrics, drive gross margins, revenue, and profitability, build strong brand partnerships, and unlock monetisation levers across offline and online channels.

Key Responsibilities


- Own the category P&L optimise product margins (NLC buy margins as well as sell margins), improve sales mix, and reduce damages.

- Maintain real-time visibility on commodity price movements to drive agile pricing and procurement decisions.

- Leverage deep local market connections and supplier relationships for competitive sourcing and consistent quality.

- Negotiate and execute TOTs with millers, traders, and wholesalers.

- Design assortment and merchandising strategies that drive trust and repeat purchase, both offline and online.

- Develop demand forecasts and inventory plans to ensure high fill rates and optimal stock levels.

- Harness SuperK s tech platform and retail footprint to build differentiated user acquisition and retention strategies for example, driving category growth through app-based offers, quick commerce initiatives, and innovative offline activations.

- Effectively pitch SuperK s unique tech-enabled ecosystem to suppliers to secure partnerships and monetisation opportunities.

- Ensure catalogue accuracy, pricing standards, and compliance.

- Develop exit strategies for underperforming SKUs and monitor vendor spend against forecasts.

Requirements


- 4-8 years experience in staples procurement, commodity trading, or category management.

- Depth of experience in categories such as Oil, Spices, Cereals and grains

- Strong understanding of B2C grocery retail dynamics and tech-led retail models.

- Well-established vendor network and expertise in commodity price tracking.

- Proven negotiation and P&L management skills.

- Analytical mindset and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication skills to effectively pitch SuperK s capabilities to brand partners.
