RESPONSIBILITIES
An In-Room Dining (IRD) Butler is responsible for delivering a seamless, personalized, and elevated dining experience to all in-house and VIP guests, ensuring each order is served with precision, discretion, and Four Seasons service standards. The IRD Butler is also responsible for maintaining all IRD operational areas, ensuring readiness and cleanliness at all times.
TASKS
- Order Handling & Service
Receive, confirm, and process IRD orders accurately via phone, tablet, or in-person requests. Prepare miseen place, set up trays, trolleys, and in-room dining presentations according to Four Seasons standards. Deliver and serve food and beverages promptly, explaining menu items and ensuring correct placement and presentation in the guest room or suite. Handle special requests, dietary restrictions, and last-minute changes with professionalism and efficiency. - Guest Experience & Personalization
Anticipate guest needs and preferences, offering thoughtful and personalized touches, especially for VIP guests. Provide discreet and attentive service during in-room meals, replenishments, and turndown amenities. Act as a point of contact for VIPs for any F&B-related needs during their stay. - Operational Standards & Hygiene
Maintain high standards of hygiene, sanitation, and orderliness in the IRD pantry, back-of-house, and all service equipment. Ensure all trays, trolleys, and service items are cleared from guest rooms promptly and professionally. Clean, sanitize, and self-inspect all IRD work areas according to Four Seasons hygiene protocols. - Equipment & Inventory Management
Ensure all IRD equipment (e. g. , coffee machines, hot boxes, warmers) is clean, operational, and safely handled. Monitor and restock pantry supplies, condiments, cutlery, and glassware as per par levels. Immediately report any malfunctioning equipment, accidents, or safety hazards to management. - Coordination & Communication
Liaise with the kitchen, housekeeping, and concierge teams to ensure smooth and timely delivery of IRD and VIP services. Keep accurate records of orders, VIP preferences, and special occasions to assist in guest recognition.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage or IRD Manager.
- Be flexible to assist in other F&B outlets or service areas during peak operations or special events.
- Form part of the Emergency Response Team while on shift, as required.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an advantage.
- Strong guest engagement and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact discreetly with high-profile guests.
- High degree of product knowledge on menu offerings, wines, beverages, and Four Seasons service standards.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, hygiene protocols, and basic equipment maintenance.
EDUCATION
- Secondary education or equivalent; additional hospitality certifications preferred.
