Job Summary

Butchers / Meat Cutters

Key Responsibilities

1. Meat Cutting & Processing

• Cut, trim, debone, slice, and portion meat and poultry.
  
• Prepare specific cuts as requested by customers (grill cuts, curry cuts, mince, steaks, etc.).
  
• Operate knives, saws, grinders, choppers, and other tools safely.
  
• Ensure consistent product quality and correct portion control.
  

2. Hygiene, Safety & Compliance

• Maintain workstation cleanliness at all times.
  
• Follow food safety standards (HACCP guidelines).
  
• Ensure proper storage, chilling, thawing, and handling of meat.
  
• Dispose waste using proper sanitization procedures.
  

3. Inventory & Display Management

• Assist in receiving meat deliveries and verifying quality.
  
• Rotate stock (FIFO method) to maintain freshness.
  
• Prepare and arrange products on display counters attractively.
  
• Label items correctly with product names, weights, and other details.
  

4. Customer Service

• Help customers select meats and suggest suitable cuts.
  
• Provide information on preparation, cooking methods, and portion sizes.
  
• Maintain professional and friendly interaction at all times.
  

5. Operational Support

• Coordinate with Store Manager and Meat Section Supervisor.
  
• Ensure daily production targets are met.
  
• Report equipment issues immediately for maintenance.
  

Qualifications & Skills Required

• Minimum

  2–5 years

  of experience as a Butcher (Supermarket / Hypermarket preferred).
• Strong knife-handling and cutting skills.
  
• Knowledge of meat types, cuts, and retail display standards.
  
• Understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety practices.
  
• Ability to work in cold rooms / chillers.
  
• Physical stamina to lift, move, and handle meat products.
