Job Description

Job Summary:

The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and safety of all medical equipment and systems within the hospital. The role includes planning, maintenance, calibration, and technical support for all biomedical instruments and coordination with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Maintenance & Service
  • Undertake day-to-day service, troubleshooting, and repair of hospital equipment.
  • Ensure timely preventive and corrective maintenance of all biomedical equipment as per schedule.
  • Assist service engineers during periodic maintenance or external service visits.
  • Plan and maintain optimal equipment availability and uptime.
  • Department Coordination
  • Interact regularly with department staff regarding equipment breakdowns and other technical issues.
  • Take daily rounds in critical departments such as Casualty, Labour Room, Operation Theatre, Radiology, and Laboratory to identify and address equipment issues.
  • Maintain good coordination with patients, management, and other departments.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain the department complaint register on a daily basis and report to the concerned authorities.
  • Maintain and update AMC/CMC/Insurance schedules and ensure timely renewals.
  • Plan and maintain calibration schedules for all biomedical equipment.
  • Report department activities regularly to the Chief Administrator.
  • Inventory & Supplies Management
  • Review supplies, instruments, and technical resources to ensure optimal stock of spares and consumables.
  • Recommend necessary upgrades or replacements for outdated or underperforming equipment.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all biomedical equipment complies with safety and performance standards.
  • Participate in quality audits and internal inspections.
  • Professional Conduct
  • Be punctual and present at the workstation on time.
  • Maintain professionalism and good interpersonal relationships with colleagues and staff.
  • Participate in orientation and training programs conducted by the organization.
  • Follow the duty schedule and instructions given by the Chief Administrator.
  • Carry out all other duties assigned by the management from time to time.
