Job Description

Job Summary:

The Biochemistry Technician will be responsible for performing biochemical tests and analyses on patient samples (blood, urine, body fluids) to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. The role requires precision, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with laboratory safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, label, and prepare specimens for biochemical testing.
  • Perform routine and specialized biochemical tests using automated analyzers and manual methods.
  • Ensure calibration, operation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment (analyzers, centrifuges, pipettes, etc.).
  • Accurately record, analyze, and report test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Adhere to NABL/ISO quality standards and participate in internal and external quality control programs.
  • Maintain strict compliance with biosafety and infection control guidelines.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and equipment breakdowns.
  • Ensure adequate stock of reagents, consumables, and maintain inventory records.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely reporting of urgent test results (critical values).
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient data at all times.
  • Participate in audits, training, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: DMLT / B.Sc. MLT / B.Sc. Biochemistry / M.Sc. Biochemistry.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a diagnostic laboratory (freshers with strong academic background can also apply).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in using biochemistry analyzers.
  • Knowledge of quality control, calibration, and equipment handling.
  • Familiarity with LIS and basic computer skills.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in rotational shifts.
