About the Role

Backend Engineer


RESTful APIs


Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs using

    Node.js

  • Build and optimize scalable cloud infrastructure on

    AWS

    (Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, EventBridge, etc.)
  • Design secure, performant integrations with

    Electronic Health Record (EHR)

    systems and third-party healthtech platforms
  • Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver

    robust, testable, and HIPAA-compliant features

  • Improve

    data normalization

    , interoperability, and reliability for patient and provider workflows
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and alerting using

    DevOps tools

    (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code)
  • Ensure

    system reliability and uptime

    as we scale to thousands of healthcare users
  • Contribute to

    technical architecture decisions

    and

    mentor junior engineers


Who You Are

  • 3+ years of backend engineering experience (

    startup or high-growth SaaS

    preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in

    Node.js

    (production-scale APIs/services)
  • Deep, hands-on

    AWS

    experience (infrastructure design, deployment, and monitoring)
  • Exposure to

    healthcare IT

    ,

    EHR integrations

    (FHIR, HL7, or custom APIs), or other

    regulated data environments

    is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of

    secure API design

    , authentication/authorization, and

    data privacy best practices

  • Familiarity with

    distributed systems

    , message queues, and event-driven architectures
  • Test-driven development mindset with experience in

    automated testing frameworks

  • Learner’s attitude; disciplined about documentation and thrives in a

    fast-paced, collaborative environment


Bonus Points

  • Experience shipping

    healthtech

    or

    fintech data infrastructure

  • Built

    workflow automation engines

    or

    iPaaS-like solutions

  • Experience with

    Docker/Kubernetes/ECS

    and

    Infrastructure as Code

    (CDK, Terraform)
  • Comfort collaborating across the stack (React or frontend familiarity a plus)

  • Startup DNA:

    action-oriented, strategic thinker with a hands-on approach
