Back End Developer (LOCATION: INDIA)

American Tiger LLC is an investment advisory firm based in Austin, Texas that has also been incubating an initiative called Project R.A.V.I.D. in developing a Digital Health platform to tackle the needs of the global medical community to help advance positive patient outcomes. 

The development of the R.A.V.I.D. platform is being undertaken by team members at multiple global locations. Working with our stakeholders in India we have access to a dynamic team that is looking to expand its Back-End development capabilities. 

OPPORTUNITY

We are actively seeking a Back-End Developer who is highly motivated team player for solving complex problems with real world implications to take on a critical role in the development and deployment of web applications that are focused on data-sensitive domains.  

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in backend web development, server side logic, and database management, working closely with front-end developers to deliver seamless, fully-functional web applications for the Healthcare sector. In this role, you will be responsible for working with the core infrastructure that powers our applications, ensuring that the back-end is optimized for both performance and scalability. 

You will work closely with front-end developers (using React.js or similar frameworks) to ensure proper integration of UI/UX elements into applications. Front-end experience is not required, however familiarity with how front-end components communicate with back-end is essential. You are expected to be an expert in Python and be highly proficient in Django frameworks. 

Our project involves developing complex systems for medical data management, where security, accuracy, and efficiency are critical. We need a Back-End developer who can take work on the server-side logic, database architecture, and ensure that the web application meets the highest standards of performance and security. There is plenty of AI related work & projects. 

You will be working in a collaborative environment with teams located in the Middle East, S.E. Asia & the US delivering solutions that align with our business goals and technical requirements. 

START DATE: IMMEDIATELY

Duration: This opportunity initiates with an approximately Three (3) month Probationary Freelance Agreement with the potential opportunity to convert to a Full-Time position. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Back-End Development: Lead the development of server-side logic, ensuring that web applications perform reliably, securely, and efficiently. 

2. Web Architecture & Deployment: Design and implement scalable and secure web architecture that can handle large volumes of traffic and data.  

3. Collaboration with Front-End Developers: Work closely with front-end teams (particularly those working with React.js) to ensure seamless integration between the user interface and server-side components. 

4. Database Management: Design and manage databases (SQL or NoSQL) to store and retrieve data efficiently.  

5. System Optimization & Maintenance: Regularly review the system's performance and implement improvements to optimize speed and scalability.  

6. Testing & Debugging: Develop and maintain automated testing routines to ensure that the back-end is robust and free of bugs. 

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

● Proficient in server-side programming languages:  

 Python, specializing in Django for building and maintaining back-end  

 applications. 

 ○ Expertise in implementing background tasks using Celery and deploying applications via Docker. 

● Database management:  

○ Proficiency in working with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) databases. 

● Web development fundamentals:  

○ Experience with managing web servers, handling HTTP requests, and ensuring optimal performance of server-side logic. 

● Familiarity with front-end technologies:  

○ Knowledge of React.js and the communication flow between front-end and back end systems, especially through API calls. 

● Cloud experience:  

○ Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure, and utilizing containerization tools like Docker. 

● Security-first approach:  

○ Knowledge of secure coding practices, including secure authentication mechanisms (e.g., JWT), data encryption, and preventing common vulnerabilities. 

● AI integration: 

○ Experienced in working with AI models, utilizing AI agents, and leveraging tool calling frameworks like LangChain for intelligent application development. 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

● Familiarity with frontend-backend integration workflows (e.g., passing data from back end APIs to React.js front-end). 

● Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git) to streamline deployments.

● Understanding of the Agile development process, including code reviews, sprint planning, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment. 

● Experience with task queues and background processing (e.g., Celery, Redis) to manage long-running or asynchronous tasks.

We will be looking to have the final candidates chosen in Kolkata, INDIA for the duration of at least the first 3 months in a Business Park/ Office of international standards. This is IN PERSON opportunity and close collaboration with your colleagues is critical. NO HYBRID.
