Automation Test Engineer with Python

Key Responsibilities

Testing Execution & Validation

• Execute functional, integration, regression, and system tests across software and embedded platforms.
• Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and unexpected behaviours.
• Validate user interfaces, APIs, and system integrations against specifications.

Test Planning & Documentation

• Review requirements and user stories to design effective test cases using techniques like boundary value analysis and equivalence partitioning.
• Maintain detailed test documentation including test cases, execution logs, and defect reports.
• Participate in test estimation and planning activities.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with global development teams to clarify requirements and support defect resolution.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives if applicable
• Communicate test progress, risks, and results to QA Lead.

Defect Management & Reporting

• Log and triage defects using tools like Jira.
• Support root cause analysis and re-testing of resolved issues.
• Update dashboards and metrics to reflect test coverage and status.

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to process improvements and testing best practices.
• Participate in training and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Stay current with emerging testing tools and methodologies.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Strong Windows and Linux (SSH) skills.
• Strong experience in Python scripting.
• Strong understanding of manual testing methodologies and test design techniques.
• Experience with defect and test management tools (e.g. Jira, qTest, Gitlab).
• Basic knowledge of automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Robot, Postman) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments.

Domain Knowledge

• Exposure to embedded systems and real-time software testing.
• Understanding of API testing, database validation, and web/mobile application testing.
• Awareness of automotive or similar technical domains is beneficial.
