Job Description

The Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students, conducting high-quality research, guiding research scholars, contributing to curriculum development, and participating in academic administration. The role requires expertise in drug design, synthesis, analysis, and regulatory aspects of pharmaceuticals.

Key Responsibilities Teaching & Academic Duties

  • Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical classes in Pharmaceutical Chemistry subjects (e.g., Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Drug Design).
  • Develop and update course content in line with current scientific advances and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students.
  • Prepare instructional materials, assessments, and examinations.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide academic guidance.

Research & Scholarly Activities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals of national and international repute.
  • Secure research grants and funding from government and private agencies.
  • Present research at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Guide research scholars and contribute to patents, innovations, or technology transfer where applicable.

Academic Administration

  • Participate in departmental and institutional committees.
  • Assist in accreditation, quality assurance, and curriculum review processes.
  • Contribute to the organization of academic events, workshops, and continuing education programs.
  • Support departmental planning and policy implementation.

Professional Development & Service

  • Engage in continuous professional development and faculty development programs.
  • Collaborate with industry, research institutions, and regulatory bodies.
  • Uphold academic integrity, ethical research practices, and institutional values.
  • Participate in community outreach and professional service activities.

Qualifications Essential

  • Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry .
  • Minimum teaching and/or research experience as per regulatory authority norms .
  • Strong publication record in reputed journals.

Desirable

  • Postdoctoral research experience.
  • Experience in funded research projects.
  • Industry or regulatory exposure in pharmaceutical sciences.

Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry principles.
  • Strong teaching, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Research design, data analysis, and scientific writing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with modern laboratory techniques and analytical instruments.
