Assistant Vice President Operations

Role & responsibilities

1. Estimation & Implementation

  • Work closely with the Business Development team during the bidding stage to finalize commercials for prospective customers.
  • Lead feasibility studies, site surveys, manpower planning, and infrastructure planning for new warehouses and client requirements.
  • Engage with clients during pre-sales, planning, and execution stages to ensure confidence and satisfaction.
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers for smooth onboarding of new clients.
  • Design optimized warehouse layouts, process flows, and material handling solutions.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, vendors, contractors, and resources for project execution.
  • Coordinate civil works, racking, MHE procurement, WMS/SAP integration, and manpower onboarding in collaboration with HR.
  • Build & Collaborate with the team for smooth transition into live operations.

2. Strategic Operations Leadership

  • Develop and execute long-term supply chain strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify opportunities for network optimization, capacity expansion, and service improvements.
  • Lead annual operations planning, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management for warehousing and transport.
  • Drive strategic initiatives such as new facility setup, capability enhancements, and service diversification (including VAS).
  • Drive innovation in operational models, leveraging technology and data-driven decision-making.
  • Track project progress with dashboards, MIS reports, and escalation management.

3. Operational Excellence & Performance Management

  • Oversee governance across multi-location 3PL sites to ensure consistency in service delivery.
  • Build a culture of accountability, customer focus, and operational excellence.
  • Lead day-to-day warehouse and logistics operations ensuring SLA adherence.
  • Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and turnaround time.
  • Strengthen SOP frameworks, compliance, audit readiness, and safety standards.
  • Establish and standardize KPIs, dashboards, and performance scorecards for data-driven decision-making & KPIs are consistently achieved.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma) to boost productivity and reduce cost.
  • Mentor and develop Operations Heads, Cluster Managers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Build future leadership capability through coaching and structured training.
  • Conduct regular audits with zonal/regional/cluster managers to reduce shrinkage, leakage, and operational risks.

4. Business & Profitability Management

  • Own and manage the P&L for warehouse operations across multiple client accounts.
  • Prepare annual budgets, cost forecasts, and financial plans aligned with growth goals.
  • Drive revenue growth through client retention, account expansion, and new business development.
  • Monitor operating costs, labour productivity, transport spend, and inventory-related expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Optimize warehouse operating costs (manpower, space, infrastructure, utilities, transport etc).
  • Implement cost-optimization measures through process improvements, vendor negotiations, and fleet optimization.
  • Review monthly performance reports, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support finance in billing, rate adherence, contract profitability, and revenue assurance.
  • Contribute to new business proposals with financial modeling, pricing strategies, and cost-to-serve analysis.
  • Oversee CAPEX planning for new warehouses, equipment, and technology investments.
  • Conduct periodic client business reviews, presenting operational and financial performance when required.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Graduate/Postgraduate (Supply Chain/Logistics would be an added advantage).
  • Age below 55.
  • 1215 years of progressive experience in FMCG, FMCD, Telecom, or 3PL warehouse operations.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and team development skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving aptitude.
  • Proficiency in SAP/ERP/WMS/TMS and other digital logistics platforms.
  • Excellent MS Office and Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills in

    English, Hindi, Malayalam
