Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor – Agriculture

Department:

Job Summary:

The role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, conducting high-quality research, mentoring students, and contributing to academic administration. The candidate is expected to develop and deliver curriculum in agriculture-related subjects, secure research funding, and engage with industry and the farming community to promote agricultural innovations.

Key Responsibilities:Teaching:

Design and deliver lectures, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork in agricultural sciences (e.g., Agronomy, Soil Science, Horticulture, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Economics, etc.)Develop course materials, syllabi, and assessment tools.Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations.Conduct practical sessions and ensure alignment with industry practices and government standards.

Research:

Undertake independent and collaborative research projects.Publish high-quality research papers in peer-reviewed journals.Apply for research grants and manage funded projects.Guide and supervise PhD and postgraduate research scholars.

Extension & Outreach:

Participate in agricultural extension activities to benefit local farmers and rural communities.Collaborate with state/national agricultural departments and NGOs on field trials, demonstrations, and knowledge dissemination.Organize training workshops, seminars, and community engagement events.Administrative & Academic Duties:Serve on departmental and university committees.Participate in curriculum development and program reviews.Contribute to accreditation and quality assurance processes.Mentor junior faculty and academic staff (especially at Associate Professor and Professor levels).

Qualifications:

Assistant Professor:

Minimum: Master’s degree in relevant agricultural discipline with NET qualification (as per UGC/ICAR norms).Preferred: PhD in Agriculture or related field.

Associate Professor:

PhD in relevant discipline.Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience in an academic/research position, with evidence of published work and guidance of research students.

Professor:

PhD in relevant discipline.Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience, including at least 3–4 years at the level of Associate Professor.Proven record of high-quality publications, funded research, and academic leadership.

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in using digital tools for teaching and research.Experience with field research, lab management, and community-based projects.Knowledge of government agricultural schemes, policies, and innovations.Commitment to student development and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Work Environment:

Primarily based in academic institutions with regular classroom and laboratory settings.Frequent field visits and research-based travel may be required.Participation in academic conferences, training programs, and extension activities.Contact no. 8700002628
