1. Role Summary

The Assistant Professor of Mathematics will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to academic and administrative activities within the Department of Mathematics at Chandigarh University.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Teaching & Instruction

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Probability & Statistics, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Numerical Methods, etc.
• Develop lesson plans, course materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Conduct tutorials, laboratory sessions (if applicable), and remedial classes.
• Maintain high academic standards in teaching, evaluation, and student engagement.

B. Research & Publications

• Undertake independent and collaborative research in pure or applied mathematics.
• Publish research papers in reputed Scopus/SCI/UGC-CARE journals.
• Apply for funded research projects through national agencies (DST, SERB, UGC, etc.).
• Present research at national and international conferences.

C. Student Mentoring

• Guide students in academic projects, internships, competitions, and research work.
• Provide academic counselling, career guidance, and mentoring support.

D. Administrative Duties

• Participate in departmental committees, curriculum development, and accreditation activities (NBA/NAAC).
• Support university events, academic audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in admissions, outreach programs, and student activities.

3. Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Master’s degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics

  with minimum

  55% marks

  (or equivalent grade).

• Ph.D. in Mathematics

  (awarded) is highly desirable.

Experience

• Candidates with prior teaching/research experience will be given preference.

4. Skills & Competencies

• Strong subject knowledge and excellent teaching skills.
• Ability to conduct high-quality research.
• Proficiency in mathematical tools/software: MATLAB, Mathematica, R, Python (optional but desirable).
• Good communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
