Role & responsibilities

An Assistant Manager Purchase for the education sector sources, procures, and manages supplies (from stationery to IT/lab equipment) for schools/universities, focusing on cost-effectiveness, quality, timely delivery, and compliance, while negotiating with vendors, maintaining records, and supporting the Purchase Manager in strategy, requiring strong analytics, vendor management, and coordination with departments like Academics & Admin

  • Sourcing & Procurement:

    Identify needs, research suppliers, issue RFQs/POs for educational materials, consumables, IT, furniture, etc.
  • Vendor Management:

    Build relationships, negotiate pricing/terms, evaluate performance, and resolve issues.
  • Inventory & Cost Control:

    Monitor stock, analyze market trends, identify savings, and maintain accurate purchase records.
  • Internal Coordination:

    Liaise with teachers, admin, finance, and other departments to understand needs and ensure smooth operations.
  • Compliance & Reporting:

    Ensure adherence to procurement policies, generate reports (MIS, audit), and manage contracts.
