Assistant Manager - Export & Import

Role & responsibilities

• Ensure the collection of Import/Export data and translate it into customs clearance instructions or customs declarations.
• Control and verify data related to the Export Control system (allocation of licenses, etc.) for the Customs perimeter.
• Ensure the follow-up of the processing of customs declarations until validation by the administration.
• Ensure the monitoring and compliant management of customs entries, particularly in the field of special regimes (Temporary Import/Export)
• Respect the "conduct to be followed" when welcoming Customs Inspectors during situ checks.
• Participate in the implementation of new regulatory mechanisms and in Continuous Improvement and Change Management.
• Respond to investigations by the Administration concerning customs declarations in the process of validation.
• Report to the Customs Officer about any disputes, minutes and any draft settlement before undertaking to acknowledge.
• Stay up to date on international trade legislation and maintain compliance. Worked with legal and regulatory teams to manage export licenses and permits.
• Accuracy in paperwork and compliance is essential for avoiding costly errors and delays.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required when negotiating with vendors and collaborating with logistical providers.
• Ability to identify and fix difficulties that develop throughout the import/export process.
• Understanding international commerce laws and regulations is critical for ensuring compliance and avoiding legal complications.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 10 years In-depth knowledge in the field of customs and significant prior experience.
• Proven leadership capabilities with strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Experience with ERP implementation is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
• Strong team player with collaborative and organizational strengths.
