Assistant Manager - Business Development

Pursue the shortlisted investment opportunities (wind, solar, hybrid, round-the-clock/ FDRE)

• Take lead in identifying auctions for greenfield wind, solar, hybrid and round-the-clock / FDRE projects..Assessing cost optimization opportunities and pursue competitor analysis and carry out various commercial analytics to enhance the commercial viability of renewables projects and enable Apraava to participate. Work along with tax team, legal team and Costing & Contract team on best investment structures basis the clause/restriction in the contract/agreements to be executed to maximize shareholder returns. Screen opportunities based on internal risk & return criteria and support the Line-manager in presenting the shortlisted opportunities to the Apraava Excom, Apraava IC, and CLPH Investment Committee for preliminary approvals. Prepare the business cases for investment based on detailed Due Diligence on the approved opportunities.

Bid Coordination and Financial Bid Process

• Participate in various pre-bid meetings and related discussions. Lead the interaction with bid process coordinators (BPC) for any clarification in bid documents. Interact with contractor or other functions for any specific requirement by client or BPC.


• Understand key business drivers in the territories where the opportunities are offered, such as consumer mix, power mix, growth potential etc. Conduct a detailed due diligence of the financials, the applicable regulations impacting future cashflows/business of the counterparties. Prepare and finalize data book in discussion with functional teams. Work along with Investment Analysis team on development and finalization of the financial models


• Lead the interaction with legal team & consultants for review of project documents, regulatory & legal due diligence. Assess health, safety & environment related issues with the help of corporate environment management team & consultants. Work out best financing structures along with project finance team to be considered for project evaluation along with the Cost & Contract team connect with vendors, technology suppliers for evaluating business proposals.


• Assist line manager in final business case preparation & presentation to Apraava Energy & Shareholders/senior management to seek their final approvals. Fully engage in activities leading to submission of financial proposal & developing reverse auction strategy. Support team in preparation of documents for submission with RFQ/RFP. Submit bidding bid post receiving all requisite approvals.

Other Business Development related activities including Post bid support

• Periodically track actual project returns and assumptions against approved (at the time of business case approval), evaluate the variance and apply the learnings while bidding/evaluating future projects
  Evaluate options to enhance shareholders returns on investments and seek management approvals on evaluating such structures.
  


• Support finance team in tying up debt for the project and providing responses to queries from lenders in timely manner.


• Work closely with the Cost & Contract team in finalization and award of the contract. Coordinate with the IA team to see the impact on the IRR basis the final contract executed vis- -vis the business case


• Support line-manager in estimation of
  annual budget reqd. for BD activities for future years
  size and number of opportunities to be pursued in the following year(s)
  capital required & revenue generation

Education Qualification

Minimum education qualifications for the position: Graduate (B. Tech. in Engineering would be added advantage)

Understanding of business development cycle for wind, solar, round-the-clock/ hybrid (as applicable) projects
Broad technical & commercial related aspects of solar, wind, hybrid projects
Power + RE sector regulations and policies
Latest developments in the renewable sector Understanding of implications of various financial, legal and technical aspects on the business
Strong communication, negotiation and inter-personal skills
