.Project Lead is an excellent role where you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of significant UK Projects. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of project team leadership in water/wastewater treatment projects, possess a sound technical background, and good acumen for project delivery. You will be expected to combine managerial leadership and technical responsibilities, promote a collaborative approach, and inspire the team to deliver projects to quality, budget, and timescales. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, oversee design development, and ensure successful and timely project execution while upholding the highest standards in safety, quality, and sustainability.
You Will Be Responsible For The Following
- The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in combining managerial leadership and technical responsibilities, promoting a collaborative approach, and inspiring the team to deliver projects to quality, budget, and timescales.
- Developing and managing Engineering Project Plans, including scope, programme, cost, risk, and resources, is essential.
- Conducting design meetings, reviewing outputs (including 3D models), and ensuring timely action tracking are key responsibilities.
- Implementing project quality procedures and driving continuous improvement are crucial aspects of the role.
- Managing the integration of supplier designs and ensuring alignment with project goals is required.
- Providing line management for a multidisciplinary team, including performance and development planning, is necessary.
- Fostering a culture of integrity, inclusion, and continuous learning is important.
- Allocating resources effectively across projects based on priorities and complexity is expected.
- Promoting emotional intelligence and collaboration within teams, and championing health, safety, and welfare in design and delivery, are vital.
- Ensuring the completion of design risk assessments and communicating residual risks are part of the responsibilities.
- Driving improvements in CDM compliance and safety culture is essential.
- Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities with appropriate mitigation strategies is required.
- Applying principles of sustainable development across the project lifecycle is necessary.
- Contributing to enhancing the six capitals through engineering activities is expected.
- Supporting the development of project programmes to meet milestones is important.
- Managing team outputs to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery is crucial.
- Seeking opportunities to improve affordability through design innovation is part of the role.
Candidate Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Masters in Engineering preferred
- Minimum 8 years, preferably 5 + years’ experience in engineering design, in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity.
- Chartered engineer or working towards achieving professional qualifications is preferred.
- Familiarity with British, Euro and other international standards and practices
- Preferred experience on UK municipal projects., Southeast Asia and Pacific, US or Middle East water/wastewater sector experience in treatment (non-infra) projects
- Proactive approach, and able to adapt to changing scenarios
- Proven client liaison skills
- Experience working on municipal treatment projects.
- Experience of working on complex multidisciplinary projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Mentoring skills
- Experience working in an international design consultancy
- A strong technical focus, able to innovate and lead by example
- Demonstrable experience of planning and monitoring project programme, costs and resources ensuring delivery to time and budget
- Excellent knowledge of current international codes and regulations
- Previous experience in preparation of fee proposals and bid submissions
- IT and standard industry software skills, including knowledge of BIM
- Ability to communicate confidently and professionally in English with all levels of staff and clients (written and verbal)
