Job Description

An Area Sales Manager (ASM) in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry is responsible for driving sales, managing a team, and ensuring the availability and visibility of products in their designated territory. Their primary goal is to achieve sales targets, expand distribution, and maintain strong relationships with retailers and distributors.

Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute sales plans to achieve regional targets.
  • Monitor and analyze sales data to identify growth opportunities.
  • Drive volume and market share within the assigned area.

2. Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Recruit, train, and mentor sales representatives and distributors.
  • Monitor team performance and provide guidance to enhance efficiency.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings and performance reviews.

3. Distribution & Retail Management

  • Expand and optimize the distributor and retailer network.
  • Ensure proper stock availability and inventory management.
  • Strengthen relationships with distributors, wholesalers, and key retailers.

4. Market Analysis & Competitor Insights

  • Conduct market research to understand consumer demand and trends.
  • Track competitor activities and suggest strategic actions.
  • Identify new market opportunities and potential gaps.

5. Customer Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with retailers, distributors, and other stakeholders.
  • Address customer concerns and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
  • Implement loyalty programs and promotional activities.

6. Trade Marketing & Merchandising

  • Ensure effective placement of Point-of-Sale (POS) materials.
  • Implement brand visibility and promotional campaigns in retail outlets.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to drive product awareness.

7. Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit sales reports, forecasts, and performance analyses.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, pricing guidelines, and credit policies.
  • Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹25,000.00 per month

Experience:

  • Field sales: 5 years (Preferred)
  • FMCG: 5 years (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 100% (Preferred)
