Job Title: Area Sales Manager – Mumbai Region (FMCG / Dairy / Bread / Fresh Foods)
Location: Mumbai, India

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Area Sales Manager to lead sales and distribution efforts across the Mumbai Region. The role will cover Regional Modern Trade, Premium General Trade (GT) Stores, and National Modern Trade Accounts.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong leadership, operational excellence, and sharp commercial acumen. You will lead a team of Sales Officers and Territory Sales Incharges to drive store expansion, increase sales throughput, and strengthen offline market presence.

Key Responsibilities Store Expansion & Sales Growth

  • Expand active store count across modern and premium GT channels.
  • Plan and execute store activation drives in key areas.
  • Boost sales per store through data-driven strategies.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of Sales Officers / TSIs.
  • Set KPIs, conduct structured reviews, and offer field training.
  • Drive team productivity and performance improvement.

Sales & Distribution Management

  • Manage beat plans and territory coverage.
  • Optimize distributor route planning to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure stock availability, fill rates, and order fulfillment.

Trade Terms, Schemes & Market Intelligence

  • Negotiate and manage Terms of Trade (TOTs) with accounts.
  • Benchmark competitor pricing, schemes, and market presence.
  • Roll out effective trade schemes to drive volumes and visibility.

Reporting, Automation & Insights

  • Set up robust reporting systems to monitor key sales KPIs.
  • Leverage Sales Force Automation (SFA) tools for team and beat management.
  • Analyze store-level data and recommend course corrections.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with store managers and distributors.
  • Coordinate with Trade Marketing and Supply Chain for flawless execution.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Growth in active store count & average sales per store
  • Achievement of sales targets (monthly/quarterly/annual)
  • Trade terms compliance and scheme effectiveness
  • Route optimization and market coverage
  • Distributor fill rate and service levels
  • SFA adoption and productivity metrics

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Graduate/Post-Graduate in Business, Sales, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • Experience: 5–8 years in FMCG / Consumer Goods, ideally in dairy, bakery, fresh foods (e.g. eggs, bread, milk)
  • Preferred Experience: Companies like iD Fresh, Heritage Foods, Amul, Britannia, or bread companies
  • Strong skills in:
  • Distribution management & TOT negotiations
  • Sales schemes and trade activation planning
  • Team management and field force productivity
  • SFA tools, Excel, and sales analytics
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹1,200,000.00 per year
