Role Overview

We are seeking a design-forward architect and furniture designer who bridges spatial design, furniture development, and product thinking. This role is ideal for someone who not only designs interiors but also creates furniture and home products that are scalable, innovative, and deeply tied to architectural sensibility. The Architect & Furniture Designer will contribute to styling projects, sourcing, and private-label product creation, ensuring that every product developed is aesthetic, functional, and commercially viable.

Key Responsibilities

1. Furniture & Interior Product Design

• Design and develop furniture collections (indoor, outdoor, accent, mirrors, lighting) aligned with Hello December’s styling vision.

• Create detailed product drawings, prototypes, and material boards ready for manufacturing.

• Balance aesthetics with ergonomics, durability, and cost efficiency.

2. Architectural & Styling Integration

• Translate architectural and interior concepts into bespoke furniture solutions.

• Support turnkey styling projects with custom furniture and curated product recommendations.

• Ensure that furniture design aligns seamlessly with spatial flow and client needs.

3. Vendor & Manufacturing Collaboration

• Work with furniture manufacturers, workshops, and material vendors to bring designs to market.

• Vet and onboard vendors across wood, metal, upholstery, and alternative materials.

• Conduct site and factory visits to ensure quality, finishes, and timelines are met.

4. Product Thinking & Market Relevance

• Identify market gaps and emerging trends in furniture and interior products.

• Conceptualize scalable SKUs for Hello December’s private label and collections.

• Lead designs from prototype to retail launch, ensuring consistency in design language and brand ethos.

5. Strategic & Business Contribution

• Collaborate with leadership on design roadmaps and seasonal collections.

• Support sales, client pitches, and presentations by showcasing furniture design stories.

• Contribute to building Hello December’s reputation as a styling-led, product-first homeware brand.

Core Skills Required

• Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Furniture Design.

• Strong skills in furniture design, detailing, and ergonomics.

• Expertise in materials, finishes, joinery, and prototyping.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino/SketchUp, 3D modelling, rendering tools.

• Ability to bridge creative design with production and commercial viability.

• Experience working with vendors, artisans, and manufacturers.

Ideal Candidate

• 2–6 years’ experience in architecture + furniture/interior product design.

• Someone who can zoom in (perfect the joint detail of a chair) and zoom out (design a full furniture line).

• Entrepreneurial and experimental—excited to build collections, IPs, and iconic design products, not just projects.

• Passion for craftsmanship, material innovation, and global furniture trends.
