The Opportunity: Architect & Universal Design Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Fresher Architect or Accessibility Professional to join our growing team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that physical spaces are designed and adapted for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

• Accessibility Audits & Analysis:

  Assist in conducting detailed accessibility audits of existing buildings and new design plans.

• Compliance Verification:

  Support the team in verifying designs against national and international accessibility standards (e.g., "Harmonised Guidelines for Barrier Free Built Environment," National Building Code of India).

• Universal Design Recommendations:

  Contribute to developing and refining practical, context-specific universal design solutions and recommendations for identified barriers.

• Research & Knowledge Management:

  Research best practices in universal design, assistive technologies, and evolving accessibility regulations.

• Team Collaboration:

  Work closely with EMA's architects, accessibility experts to ensure integrated and effective solutions.

• Client Support

  (as needed): Provide support in client interactions, explaining audit findings and proposed solutions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience

  : 0-1 year of professional experience. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

• Educational Background:

  A strong academic record in a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field. Candidates with a strong portfolio or academic focus on accessibility/universal design will be highly regarded.

• Passion for Accessibility:

  Demonstrated genuine interest in universal design, human-centric design principles, and creating accessible environments for diverse user needs. Basic understanding of accessibility standards and regulations (e.g., principles of barrier-free design, UN CRPD Article 9).

• Analytical Skills:

  Ability to analyse architectural plans and identify potential design flaws.

• Technical Aptitude:

  MS Office, Canva, Familiarity with Adobe suite and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp). Interest in learning and working with AI-powered tools.

• Communication:

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
• Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to identifying challenges and contributing to solutions.
