Applied Data Scientist

.As an Applied Data Scientist, you will bridge advanced machine learning techniques with cybersecurity expertise to protect against evolving threats. You will design, implement, and optimize ML models to detect malware with high accuracy and reliability, while collaborating closely with threat researchers and engineering teams. The role requires handling large-scale threat datasets, performing feature engineering, and developing scalable data pipelines. You will define key metrics to evaluate model performance, contribute to ML operations, and support the deployment of models in production environments. This position offers a dynamic environment that combines research, applied machine learning, and impactful contributions to security systems worldwide.
Accountabilities
- Build, train, and optimize machine learning models for malware detection and threat analysis
- Conduct exploratory data analysis on malware and behavioral datasets to identify patterns and features
- Perform feature engineering and preprocessing on large-scale structured and unstructured threat data
- Design, maintain, and optimize scalable data pipelines for ingestion and processing of threat intelligence feeds
- Define metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of ML models in production environments
- Collaborate with threat researchers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deploy and refine ML solutions
- Perform rigorous model evaluation across diverse malware and threat scenarios to ensure robust protection
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
- 6+ years of combined experience in applied data science and machine learning
- Strong proficiency in Python, data manipulation, visualization, and modeling libraries
- Experience with large-scale data processing on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks like Ray or Apache Spark
- SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch) database experience
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow) and ML lifecycle management tools (MLflow)
- Understanding of ML operations, including model deployment, monitoring, and version control
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders
