API Tester (Junior)

Roles And Responsibilities

Design and execute test cases for RESTful APIs using tools like Postman or similar.
Validate API functionality, reliability, performance, and security across different environments.
Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and QA team members to understand API specifications and ensure coverage.
Perform manual API testing to validate request/response payloads, headers, status codes, and error handling.
Log, track, and verify defects using bug tracking tools such as JIRA.
Analyze API documentation (Swagger, Postman Collections, etc.) to ensure all requirements are being tested.
Support test planning, test design, and test execution processes for backend services and integrations.
Perform regression testing of APIs after code deployments and updates.
Work with automation team to help convert manual API test cases to automated scripts (if applicable).
Maintain clear test documentation, including test data, test reports, and test results.
Identify gaps in API behavior, inconsistencies, or performance issues and escalate appropriately.

Preferred Skills (Good To Have)

Familiarity with API test automation using tools like Newman, Rest Assured, or Postman scripting.
Basic knowledge of JSON, XML, and SQL queries.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how API testing fits within DevOps practices.
