To proactively engage with the community to raise awareness about DBM India's initiatives, thereby increasing student admissions and participation in courses. This role involves establishing strong working relationships with community leaders and local partners. The role will also lead the development, implementation, and coordination of strategies, initiatives, and activities dedicated to forming and strengthening the DBM Alumni network, ensuring the network actively supports the organization's mission and programs, including student mobilization and job placement.
Key Responsibilities
Community & Student Mobilization
* Conduct community visits and interact with community leaders and members to spread awareness of DBM programs and attract maximum participation.
* Mobilize community members to register for programs offered by or supported by DBM India.
* Visit homes of irregular/dropout students to understand and address issues.
* Collect and report feedback from the community to DBM.
* Perform tasks as and when given by the Centre Co-ordinator, such as field surveys, marketing, and events.
Alumni Relations & Networking
* Develop and implement DBM’s Alumni Relations strategy in consultation with the Management.
* Create, maintain, and regularly update a comprehensive database of the alumni.
* Organize and coordinate programs, meetings, and events to form and strengthen the DBM Alumni network.
* Regularly communicate with individual alumni and send out messages/emails/updates to keep them informed of the organization's work.
* Build and maintain alumni network/communities via social media (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook).
* Meet alumni (and parents, if necessary) to establish strong relationships and strengthen the network.
* Actively seek suggestions and feedback from alumni to strengthen the network and DBM programs.
Partnership & Outreach
* Establish and explore mutual synergies with community leaders and local NGOs/civil society organizations for maximum impact on DBM programs.
* Hold periodic meetings with local NGOs and civil society organizations.
* Develop strong student, alumni, staff, and other volunteer networks to support and develop strategies for alumni relations.
Reporting & Data Management
* Prepare and submit daily reports, as well as monthly reports detailing activities under the Alumni Network initiative.
* Report daily work progress and status at the center.
* Attend DBM meetings regularly.
* Track and report the wellbeing of student alumni to DBM.
Eligibility & Qualifications
Education & Technical Skills
* Minimum Education: A Bachelor's degree in any discipline is required.
* Preferred Education: Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) would be highly preferable. Any Professional Certificates in Social Development would be a plus.
* Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of Computer, Internet, and mobile devices.
Experience
* At least 2 years of field work experience with an NGO / Community Organization in the Social Development sector OR at least 2 years of relevant experience as an Alumni Officer or in a role requiring strong coordination skills.
* Past experience of mobilization and organization’s outreach programmes is preferred.
* Past experience of working in an NGO set up will be a plus point.
Skills & Abilities
* Efficient communication skills and the ability to reach out to the communities, targeted audiences, and Partners.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of parties, including students.
* Community mobilization and comfort in local languages like Marathi, Hindi, & English. The ability to communicate in multiple languages is highly desirable.
* Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate a range of special events.
* Ability to design and write promotional material.
* Strong database management skills and ability to produce detailed reports.
* Ability to work effectively in a team and take instructions from superiors/Centre Co-ordinator.
* Passion to align oneself with the organizational goals and vision.
* Good attitude to learn and adapt new things at work.
Working Conditions
* Schedule: 8 Hours, 6 Days a Week. Lots of on-ground work and travelling for mobilisation is required.
* Flexibility: Should be flexible to attend in-person and remote work meetings as required by the team.
