Job Description

Looking for AGM - SCM (Planning) for one of the automotive industry based in Chennai.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Lead the end-to-end supply chain function at the plant, aligning with business and production goals.

  • Develop robust planning processes in collaboration with Production, Quality, and Sales teams.

  • Drive demand forecasting, capacity planning, and supply continuity strategies.

  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and packaging materials to meet production schedules.

  • Mitigate supply risks through alternate sourcing, safety stock, and proactive planning.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct regular audits, and ensure ERP data integrity.

  • Achieve inventory KPIs - inventory turns, aging, holding cost, and stock accuracy.

  • Lead supplier development initiatives - capability assessments, audits, and continuous improvement programs.

  • Establish strategic sourcing partnerships and cost reduction programs.

  • Lead weekly/monthly Production Schedule meetings for regulating the product mix based on Runner Repeater Stranger models and share the rolling plan with all.

  • Control the Non-Moving & Slow-Moving Inventory

  • Liaise with Purchase, MIS, Finance for vendor process, product, commercial issue (PO, Logistics etc.)

  • Actively contributes to the development and support of material planning processes and benchmark against best practices in the industry.

  • Develop a model to assess long-term component requirements against different planning scenarios vis-a-vis capacity of the OEM in consultation with Suppliers Manager.

  • To understand, calculate and manage multiple risks (Domestic/ Global, Internal/ External) with respect to Material Planning to minimize the impact of material management on supply, sales & operations plan.

  • Identify the constraints of material management which affect production targets and take corrective actions in relation to Own the KPI of Inventory Turn Ratio and drive it across the organization.

Must-Have Qualifications:

Full-time degree in Engineering from a recognized university.

Minimum 16 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain roles within Auto Component.

Proven expertise in managing complex plant supply chain operations with a large vendor base.

Deep understanding of supply chain planning, procurement, logistics, inventory, and compliance frameworks.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain planning tools.

  • Exposure to global sourcing, customs regulations, and export/import formalities.

  • Ability to drive cross-functional alignment and execute under high-pressure environments.
