Job Description

Role Overview

The Academic Head of the School of Applied Creativity will lead efforts to strengthen MICA’s position as a top choice for creativity-led higher education. This role oversees the quality of the curriculum and drives innovation across the school’s programs, which include Crafting Creative Communication, Content & Creator Economy, and Applied Creativity & Innovation, as well as other future offerings. The position also leads international academic collaborations and executive education initiatives that support MICA’s goals and growth.


Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership & Programme Oversight

  • Provide academic direction, development, and oversight for all programs within the School of Applied Creativity.
  • Ensure high-quality curriculum, continuous improvement, and the integration of future-ready skills, such as AI, digital creativity, and experiential learning.
  • Lead program evaluations, ensure compliance with accreditation standards, enhance learner experience, and maintain academic quality.

Faculty & Research Development

  • Promote collaboration among faculty on topics such as creativity, design thinking, cultural awareness, storytelling, and emerging creative technologies.

Industry & Global Partnerships

  • Coordinate collaborations with global institutions for joint or dual degree programs, academic exchanges, and shared research projects.
  • Build strong partnerships with the creative industry, content platforms, media organisations, and innovation ecosystems to offer hands-on experiences, internships, and co-creation opportunities.

Student Success & Experience

  • Support student mentorship, help prepare portfolios, and create pathways to careers focused on creativity, content, and innovation.
  • Encourage a culture of experimentation, creative confidence, and an entrepreneurial mindset among students.

Strategic Contribution

  • Take an active role in institutional planning and curriculum development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD or equivalent expertise in Creativity Studies, Media, Design, Cultural Studies, Innovation, or related areas.
  • Strong academic and professional record with evidence of creative work, research, or experience in the creative industry.
  • At least 15 years of relevant academic or industry experience in a leading institution or creative sector organisation.
  • Proven ability to manage programs, lead faculty teams, and build global partnerships between academia and industry.
