Your Role: The Backbone of Workshop Operations
You will set operational KPIs, build high-performing teams, and instill a culture of quality, learning, safety, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Plan and manage daily workshop operations, resource allocation, output, and quality to ensure high fleet uptime
- Oversee shift-wise scheduling to maximize technician productivity and minimize turnaround time
- Monitor live dashboards for SLA breaches and drive quick resolution
- Share regular operational insights with leadership to improve efficiency
Performance & Productivity Management
- Track mechanic efficiency, utilization, and repair throughput
- Analyze daily metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and develop long-term solutions
Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight
- Own final inspection protocols and quality control processes
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for post-repair complaints
- Maintain high Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) and reduce rework rates
Inventory & Asset Control
- Ensure accurate inventory through audits and digital tracking
- Prevent part/tool loss or misuse with proper tagging and logging
- Coordinate with procurement for critical spare planning
Training & Capability Development
- Identify skill gaps and lead technical training on EV diagnostics and SOPs
- Conduct quarterly SOP refresher training
- Drive continuous learning and upskilling
Compliance & Process Governance
- Ensure 100% adherence to safety protocols and documentation standards
- Conduct safety drills and waste audits
- Maintain ISO/TS16949-level operational processes
Team Engagement & Communication
- Run daily pre-shift briefings and post-shift reviews
- Resolve team issues and manage smooth shift handovers
- Foster a culture of ownership, improvement, and morale
Reporting & MIS
- Share weekly/monthly dashboards on productivity, SLA compliance, and inventory
- Present actionable insights to leadership
KPIs & Performance Metrics
- Mechanic Productivity: 95% of planned output
- Inventory Accuracy: 98% stock reconciliation
- Mean Time to Failure: 30+ days
- Tool/Asset Loss: Zero tolerance
- SOP Compliance: 95%
- Training Coverage: 100%
- Complaint Rework Rate: Less than 2%
What We Are Looking For
- Education: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile preferred; Diploma with experience acceptable
- Experience: 24 years in workshop management (EV/2W/auto industry preferred)
- Technical Skills: Mechanical systems, EV diagnostics, battery management
- Tools: CMMS, Excel, digital workshop tools
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, analytical thinking, conflict resolution
- Preferred Certifications: ISO/TS16949, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Fire/Safety
