Job Description

Position Overview

Web & Database Server Administrator

Key Responsibilities

Server & Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and maintain

    Ubuntu 22

    -based Web and Database servers.
  • Configure, monitor, and optimize servers with:

  • Quad-core CPU

  • 16 GB RAM

  • 70 GB Storage

  • Ensure system health, resource utilization, performance tuning, and security hardening.

Web Server Administration

  • Install, configure, and manage

    Apache Web Server (version 2.4.41)

    .
  • Manage virtual hosts, SSL certificates, security modules, and performance configurations.
  • Conduct routine web server maintenance, patching, and log monitoring.

Database Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain

    MariaDB (version 10.6)

    .
  • Perform database optimization, backup/restore, user access management, and performance tuning.
  • Support application teams with schema updates, query optimization, and troubleshooting.

Application Support

  • Support deployment and management of applications built with:

  • PHP version 8.1

  • CodeIgniter 4 framework

  • Collaborate with developers for smooth CI/CD, environment setup, and debugging.

Security & Monitoring

  • Implement server security best practices, firewall rules, intrusion prevention, and patch updates.
  • Monitor logs, services, and server performance for anomalies.
  • Ensure secure configuration of both web and database environments.

Backup, Recovery & Maintenance

  • Set up and maintain automated backup systems for web and database servers.
  • Conduct restoration testing and maintain disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability for urgent server-related issues (when required).

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience managing Linux environments (preferably

    Ubuntu 22

    ).
  • Hands-on expertise with

    Apache HTTP Server

    configuration and tuning.
  • Solid knowledge of

    MariaDB

    installation, configuration, and performance management.
  • Working knowledge of

    PHP 8.1

    and understanding of MVC frameworks like

    CodeIgniter 4

    .
  • Familiarity with networking, firewalls, SSL/TLS, and server security controls.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot application, web server, and database issues efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based deployments.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker) is an added advantage.
  • Understanding of load balancing, caching, and high availability setups.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar).
