Job Description

Role Overview: As the Vice President of Operations for the biologics manufacturing campus in India, you will be the senior-most operational leader responsible for building, scaling, and running a high-capacity facility to support global clinical and commercial supply. Your key responsibilities include acting as the primary site representative to global leadership, leading site start-up, ramp-up, and operational excellence, and serving as a strategic partner to global Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Operations, and Supply Chain teams. Key Responsibilities: - Provide executive leadership across biologics manufacturing operations, covering upstream, downstream, formulation, and aseptic fill/finish processes. - Ensure end-to-end site performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people management. - Develop and execute the India manufacturing strategy aligned with global clinical and commercial demand. - Lead technology transfer, scale-up, and commercial readiness for biologics products. - Oversee engineering, facilities, utilities, validation, and automation functions. - Drive major capital projects for site expansion, new production lines, cleanroom construction, and infrastructure upgrades. - Maintain inspection readiness and act as the executive sponsor during global regulatory inspections. - Establish a culture of GMP compliance, data integrity, and operational discipline. - Promote continuous improvement, Lean principles, and Six Sigma methodologies. - Mentor and retain a high-performing leadership team across manufacturing and engineering. - Manage organisational design, succession planning, and leadership development for India operations. - Handle site-level P&L, OPEX/CAPEX planning, and capacity forecasting. - Build strategic relationships with equipment vendors, suppliers, and CMOs to ensure uninterrupted product supply. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) preferred. - 20+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. - Proven track record in biologics site start-ups, expansions, and commercialisation. - Strong technical background in upstream/downstream processing and aseptic operations. - Experience in managing engineering and facilities functions, including capital programmes. - Expertise in supporting clinical and large-scale commercial manufacturing. - Demonstrated success in process optimisation, cost improvement, and advanced manufacturing technologies. - Proficiency in organisational transformation, change management, and leadership development. - Understanding of biologics supply chains and external manufacturing partnerships. - Excellent executive-level communication skills with a strategic, global mindset.
