Creative Video Editor – Short & Long Form (Social Media First)

About the Role:We’re looking for a highly creative and trend-driven Video Editor to craft compelling short-form and long-form content that stops the scroll, sparks emotion, and drives virality. This role is perfect for someone who lives and breathes digital content, follows Reels and TikTok trends like a hawk, and can stitch together storytelling magic—whether it’s a 15-second reel or a 10-minute YouTube episode.
What You’ll Do:
🎞 Short-Form Video Editing (Reels, Shorts, TikToks)
Edit highly engaging vertical videos (15–90 seconds) with viral potential
Use trending audio, transitions, text overlays, memes, and fast-paced edits
Add captions, emojis, motion graphics, and callouts to boost watch time
Edit videos for hooks, retention, and shareability across social media platforms
Stay updated on current trends, audios, formats, and creator styles
🎬 Long-Form Video Editing (YouTube, Podcasts, Brand Stories)
Edit 5–15 minute videos for YouTube, interviews, travel vlogs, and campaign films
Create smooth narratives, cinematic flow, and attention-holding pacing
Cut down long recordings into structured edits with B-roll, stock inserts, and music
Add intros, lower thirds, transitions, and end screens
Optimize for YouTube SEO, retention rate, and audience engagement
📈 Cross-Platform Storytelling
Repurpose long-form content into short-form clips and vice versa
Collaborate with writers, creators, and marketers to align edits with campaign goals
Add subtitles, translate edits for multi-lingual content if needed
Work on reels with hooks, emotional appeal, humour, or educational tones based on the target audience
Edit content in line with brand guidelines, yet with bold creative freedom
What You Should Bring:1–4 years of professional editing experience
Mastery in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects (bonus: CapCut Pro, Descript, DaVinci Resolve)
Experience editing content for Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Meta platforms
Understanding of reel psychology – hooks, drop-off points, scroll-stopping edits
Portfolio that includes viral-style reels, cinematic edits, and branded videos
Ability to source stock footage, music, effects, and audio legally and efficiently
Familiarity with color grading, sound design, masking, keyframing, speed ramps, and other advanced techniques
Fast turnaround time and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Strong organizational skills and version control
Bonus Points for:Shooting/editing experience using DSLR, GoPro, drone, or iPhone
Experience editing talking head videos, creator content, or podcast reels
Understanding of YouTube analytics and video performance tracking
Familiarity with AI video tools like Runway, Pictory, or Cutlabs
Meme knowledge and pop culture fluency
