Job Purpose

The Vessel IT Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and upgrading on-board IT infrastructure for a fleet of vessels. This includes providing remote and on-board IT support, contributing to the performance, reliability, and security of maritime IT systems in a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide IT support to vessels and crew both remotely and during ship visits.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software on physical/virtual machines, laptops, printers, mobiles, tablets, storage systems, and network devices.
• Participate in designing and implementing vessel IT infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and ensure availability and reliability.
• Perform system and network updates/upgrades.
• Manage IT security protocols and backup solutions.
• Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for problem resolution and new tasks.
• Participate in on-call support, including weekends and after-hours.
• Occasional travel on board vessels is required.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2–5 years of IT support experience, preferably in the maritime or transport/logistics sector.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop OS (Windows 10, Windows Server, Active Directory)
• Office 365, Hyper-V, antivirus, backup systems
• Network devices (switches, firewalls, UPS)
• Experience with cybersecurity solutions is an advantage.
• Familiarity with data cabling, WiFi infrastructure, and ship automation systems is a plus.
