HIRING: VESSEL IT OFFICER (MARITIME/SHIPPING INDUSTRY)

About the Role

Vessel IT Officer

This role requires hands-on technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills to work effectively with both the vessel team and shore-based operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide

  IT support to vessels

  for all hardware, software, and networking-related issues.
• Install, configure, and maintain vessel IT systems, including servers, PCs, and communication equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues related to

  VSAT, Inmarsat, email systems, and other satellite communication systems

  .
• Monitor IT systems onboard and ensure compliance with

  company IT policies

  .
• Support and train vessel crew on IT applications, tools, and security protocols.
• Ensure timely updates, patches, and antivirus management across systems.
• Maintain an updated inventory of vessel IT assets and documentation.
• Provide remote and on-site support during vessel port stays and dry dock periods.
• Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and internal departments for IT requirements and solutions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in

  Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

  .
• Must have a shipping background
• Minimum

  2–4 years of IT support experience

  , preferably in the maritime/shipping industry.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Networking (LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls).
• Satellite communication systems (

  VSAT, Inmarsat, Iridium

  ).
• Microsoft Windows OS, Office 365, and server administration.
• Remote access tools and VPNs.
• Familiarity with

  cybersecurity best practices

  for vessels.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software independently under time-sensitive conditions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with vessel crew and shore teams.
• Willingness to travel to vessels and port locations as required.
