Trainee Chemist

Job Title: Trainee Chemist- Quality Testing Laboratory

Job Summary:The Trainee Chemist will assist in performing chemical and instrumental analysis of samples across various matrices such as food, water, wastewater, dairy, animal feed, and environmental samples. This role is designed to provide hands-on training in laboratory techniques, documentation practices, and regulatory compliance under ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare reagents, standards, and samples for analysis as per SOPs.
• Perform basic wet chemistry tests (e.g., pH, TDS, COD, BOD, hardness) and assist in instrumental analysis (e.g., UV-Vis, AAS, HPLC, GC).
• Maintain accurate records in logbooks, worksheets, and LIMS.
• Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Assist in calibration, maintenance, and verification of laboratory equipment.
• Support method validation, uncertainty estimation, and quality control checks.
• Participate in internal audits, proficiency testing, and corrective actions.
• Learn and apply relevant standards (e.g., BIS, FSSAI, APHA, AOAC, USEPA).

Qualifications:

• M.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and chemical safety.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 or NABL documentation is a plus.

Desired Skills:

• Attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and documentation tools.
• Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary lab environment.

Certifications (if applicable):Relevant certifications in microbiology or quality assurance would be an advantage.

Working Conditions:This position involves working in a laboratory environment, following safety protocols and guidelines. May require occasional extended working hours to meet project deadlines.
