Technical Purchase Manager

Role & responsibilities

Manage procurement of spares, consumables, equipment, and project-related materials in line with production and maintenance needs.

Expedite purchase processes to ensure uninterrupted supply of critical materials.

Review and evaluate technical specifications, drawings, and BOMs to source appropriate materials.

Prepare and issue RFQs, purchase orders, and contracts as per company guidelines.

Develop and maintain a reliable vendor database, especially for engineering and steel-related supplies.

Conduct vendor negotiations for cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely deliveries.

Track delivery schedules and resolve any supply chain delays through follow-ups.

Ensure accurate documentation including purchase orders, GRNs, inspection reports, and invoices.

Coordinate with maintenance, production, and stores teams to understand requirements and align procurement activities.

Monitor and review inventory levels to avoid stockouts or overstocking.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction, alternate sourcing, and process improvement.

Preferred candidate profile

Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical and consumable spares used in manufacturing/Steel Plant.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawing, specifications and datasheets.

Excellent knowledge of procurement process, vender development and commercial terms.

Strong negotiation, communication and documentation skills.

Proficient in SAP/ERP systems/MS Office for procurement and reporting.

Strong problem solving and decision making ability under time sensitive situation.

Ability to expedite supplies and coordinate with cross functional team.

Cost savings achieved through negotiation and alternate sourcing.

Reduction in procurement cycle time.

Vendor performance in terms of quality, delivery reliability, and flexibility.

Accuracy and completeness of procurement documentation.
