Team Leader - NVOCC

Role & responsibilities

Company Launch & Setup

• Lead registration and compliance formalities with DG Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, and other authorities.
• Set up organizational infrastructure including systems, vendor tie-ups, and operational workflows.
• Finalize container leasing or purchase agreements and oversee asset deployment.

Agency Development & Trade Lanes

• Build strong agency networks across India, UAE, Southeast Asia, Colombo and Africa.
• Establish profitable trade lanes (e.g., India - UAE, India - Far East, India-Colombo India - East Africa).
• Coordinate mainline operators (MLOs) for slot bookings and sailing schedules.

Sales & Business Dev profitable development

• Build customer base including exporters, freight forwarders, and CHAs.
• Develop competitive freight rate structures and support direct and indirect sales efforts.
• Monitor competition and adapt business strategies as needed.

Team Management

• Hire and manage a small initial team (documentation, sales support, pricing).
• Train and mentor team members on NVOCC operations and client handling.

Regulatory & Documentation Compliance

• Ensure timely issuance of HBL, MBL coordination, IGM/EGM filing, and port/customs documentation.
• Handle disputes, cargo claims, detention/demurrage recovery, and regulatory

Preferred candidate profile:

• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in NVOCC, liner shipping, or freight forwarding.
• Must have hands-on experience in launching or expanding an NVOCC business in India.

Skills:

• Strong network with port officials, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and overseas agents.
• Expertise in documentation, compliance, and commercial negotiations.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, result-driven, and able to lead independently.

Education:

• Graduate in Shipping, Logistics, or International Business.
• MBA preferred but not mandatory.
