Job Description – STP Operation & Maintenance Engineer

Primary Location: Gujarat

Position Title:

STP Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Engineer

Educational Qualification:

• Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute.

Experience:

• Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience in operation and maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP).
• Experience in operating technologies such as ISR / SBR / MBBR / MBR shall be preferred.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor day-to-day functioning of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to ensure smooth and continuous operations.
• Ensure treated water quality meets CPCB / SPCB / NGT norms and project specifications.
• Monitor inlet and outlet parameters such as BOD, COD, TSS, pH, DO, MLSS, etc.
• Operate and maintain electro-mechanical equipment including pumps, blowers, aerators, panels, valves, and instrumentation.
• Carry out routine preventive and breakdown maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain log books, O&M records, flow records, chemical consumption, power consumption, and laboratory test reports.
• Coordinate with laboratory staff for sampling and testing of sewage and treated effluent.
• Handle sludge management including sludge withdrawal, drying, and disposal as per norms.
• Identify operational issues and suggest corrective and preventive measures.
• Ensure safety practices and compliance with statutory and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with client departments, consultants, and senior management for reporting and inspections.
• Support commissioning, performance trials, and optimization of STP operations when required.

Skills & Competencies:

• Sound knowledge of STP process, equipment, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of electrical panels, motors, pumps, blowers, and basic automation.
• Ability to interpret P&ID drawings, layouts, and O&M manuals.
• Good documentation and communication skills.
